Some of the best lessons are learned with your hands in the soil. In Gardening, kids head outside every Friday morning to plant, tend, and care for a garden they build together, watching their work sprout and grow week by week. It’s a class full of fresh air, discovery, and the simple joy of seeing something you planted come to life.

Over six weeks, students learn how plants grow and what they need to thrive. They get to know healthy soil and how compost feeds it, practice transplanting seedlings without disturbing the roots, and learn how much water, sun, and space different plants need. Each class they check on their garden, noticing new leaves, spotting helpful bugs, and figuring out what to do when something doesn’t look quite right. Science comes alive when it’s happening in a garden bed right in front of you.

Gardening also teaches the kind of patience and responsibility that’s hard to learn anywhere else. Plants don’t grow overnight, and kids quickly discover that consistent care is what makes the difference. Working as a team, students share tools, divide up tasks, and take real ownership of something living, which builds confidence and a genuine sense of pride.

This class is perfect for nature lovers, curious scientists, and any kid who doesn’t mind a little dirt under their fingernails. Students should come dressed for the outdoors and ready to dig in. No green thumb required; we’ll help them grow one. Spots are limited, so register early.
